I provide calm, structured automatic driving lessons as a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor and former DVSA Driving Examiner. Whether you're a complete beginner, feeling nervous about learning to drive, returning after a break or already have some driving experience, I will adapt your lessons to your ability and individual development needs. My aim is not simply to teach you how to pass a driving test. It is to help you become a safe, confident and independent driver. Learn safe driving skills for life - driving test success follows.
No. My standard driving lessons are two hours. This gives us enough time to develop skills properly and use roads appropriate to your stage of learning without a disproportionate amount of the lesson being taken up travelling there and back.
There isn’t a fixed number that applies to everybody. Previous experience, confidence, frequency of tuition, private practice and individual rate of development can all affect how much tuition you need. I will assess your progress as your driving develops rather than promise that you will reach test standard within a predetermined number of hours.
If you already have driving experience, I recommend starting with a two-hour pre-course assessment rather than guessing how many hours you need. I can assess your current driving and recommend an appropriate amount of tuition based on what I observe.

At Paul Robinson Driving School, we provide professional automatic driving lessons in Pontefract, helping learners develop the skills and confidence needed to drive safely on today’s roads. As a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor since 2008 and a former DVSA Driving Examiner with over five years of examining experience, Paul understands the standards required to become a competent driver and prepare for the practical driving test.
One of the key benefits of learning with Paul Robinson Driving School is the experience and insight gained from working as a former DVSA Driving Examiner. This background provides a valuable understanding of driving test expectations, common mistakes and the skills learners need to demonstrate during their test. Lessons focus on developing good observation, effective mirror checks, correct positioning, safe manoeuvres, hazard awareness and independent driving. Whether you are learning to drive for the first time, returning to driving after a break or preparing for your practical test, tuition is tailored to your current ability and learning requirements.
